Gather all the important information you need for your poster before you sit down. Know the audience you are trying to attract. What is the story, product or service for the poster? The mood that the poster gives can be changed with fonts and graphics, brightness and colors, cutouts and pictures. A good poster has the potential to reach a wider audience, engage readers and plant an idea in their heads as they pass by the poster every day and absorb its message.

If you have a lot of information to convey, make sure it’s clear and concise and doesn’t clutter up the poster with too much information. The hard poster has an interesting font that captures the mood of the story as much as possible, with stunning visuals and concise details. The poster should also have a call to action somewhere for viewers to learn more.

When arranging pictures and words, think of the poster as the goal. If you draw images on the edge of the poster, the eye will naturally be drawn to the center. Play around with many different ideas before settling on one main idea. A good font conveys information clearly and blends well with the type of story, service or product the poster is telling. If you sit down and look at the different ways to create a poster, there will be plenty of poster ideas. Play around with different fonts until you find one that speaks to the theme. A symphony concert planned for the garden may require a floral font. The dual function of a dystopian film may require a bold sans serif to convey a sense of destruction. I got ready, and then I was so excited, I arrived at their offices THREE hours early. I was so embarrassed. The team didn’t mind at all, they laughed and welcomed me! How To Make A Good Scientific Poster
At the last minute, I had the idea to turn poster board into a fake chalkboard. I didn’t worry about turning it into a real chalkboard because I knew the writing would be forever. I was really looking for a chalkboard effect for his poster.
All I could find were tutorials on how to make poster board or foam board into a real board using things like chalkboard paint or vinyl board stickers. I figured it couldn’t be too hard to get the look of the board. So off I went to Michaels to pick up 2 pieces of black poster board (2 in case I screw up the kingdom) and a chalk pen (I had some white chalk from my kid’s playground).
My crazy thinking really came true and I got the look I was hoping for! Since this is Carter’s poster, I asked her to help me with the whole project (deep breath Jennifer, this is your son’s project, no perfection!). He really did an amazing job helping out!
First, I had Carter use a piece of white chalk and paint the entire piece of black poster board. (Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of us doing this on the original black poster board…but you get the idea!)

With the help of a chalk pen, we made interesting the surroundings of each picture in the collage. Like I said, it’s just a fake chalkboard poster board, so whatever you write on it won’t erase.
We used double-sided tape to stick his pictures. I also printed a large C in the center of his poster. Cut out, trace around and color… easy enough!
I’m so happy with how this poster of my sweet boy turned out!
