How To Make A Good Scientific Poster

At the last minute, I had the idea to turn poster board into a fake chalkboard. I didn’t worry about turning it into a real chalkboard because I knew the writing would be forever. I was really looking for a chalkboard effect for his poster.

All I could find were tutorials on how to make poster board or foam board into a real board using things like chalkboard paint or vinyl board stickers. I figured it couldn’t be too hard to get the look of the board. So off I went to Michaels to pick up 2 pieces of black poster board (2 in case I screw up the kingdom) and a chalk pen (I had some white chalk from my kid’s playground).

My crazy thinking really came true and I got the look I was hoping for! Since this is Carter’s poster, I asked her to help me with the whole project (deep breath Jennifer, this is your son’s project, no perfection!). He really did an amazing job helping out!

First, I had Carter use a piece of white chalk and paint the entire piece of black poster board. (Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of us doing this on the original black poster board…but you get the idea!)

With the help of a chalk pen, we made interesting the surroundings of each picture in the collage. Like I said, it’s just a fake chalkboard poster board, so whatever you write on it won’t erase.

We used double-sided tape to stick his pictures. I also printed a large C in the center of his poster. Cut out, trace around and color… easy enough!

I’m so happy with how this poster of my sweet boy turned out!
