How To Make Poster Board – It is more than a paper sign plastered along the corridors and on the walls of s in schools across the country. School posters are more than meets the eye. Create a buzz with a beautiful project poster that will inspire and educate those who wander the school corridors.
Gather all the critical information you will need for your poster before you sit down. Know the audience you are trying to attract. What is the opportunity, product or service for the poster? The mood the poster conveys can be changed with fonts and graphics, glitter and color, cutouts and photos. A good poster is an opportunity to reach a wide audience, engage readers and plant an idea in their heads as they pass the poster daily and drink in its message.
How To Make Poster Board
If you have a lot of information to convey, make sure it’s clear and concise and not muddied by too many events with embellishments on the poster. A solid poster has an exciting font that reflects the mood of the event when possible, striking visuals and concise details. The poster should also have a call to action somewhere where the viewer can go for more information.

When arranging the pictures and words, consider looking at the poster as a target. The eye will naturally be drawn to the center if you line the edge of the poster with images. A stair-step style of listing the information for the event or service can work well if you have a multitude of facts that need to be listed on the poster to be effective. There are lots of ideas online and free school flyer templates to create mini posters to hand out at events or during lunch.
Play with a wide variety of ideas before settling on one main idea. A good font shows the information clearly and goes well with the type of event, service or product the poster is talking about. Poster ideas abound when you sit down and consider the many different ways to approach the creation of the poster. Play around with different fonts until you find one that speaks to the subject. A symphony concert planned to be held in a garden setting might call for a flowery font. A dystopian cinematic double feature might need a bold sans serif to express a sense of doom. How To Make A Giant Poster Card
Well, at the last minute I came up with the idea of turning a poster board into a faux chalkboard. I wasn’t worried about making it into an actual writing board because I knew whatever I wrote would be permanent. I was actually just looking for the effect of a blackboard for his poster.
All I found was a tutorial for how to turn poster board or foam board into an actual chalkboard using things like chalkboard paint or vinyl chalkboard stickers. I figured it couldn’t be too hard to get the look of a chalkboard. So off to Michaels I picked up 2 pieces of black poster board (2 pieces in case I was royally messed up) and a chalk pen (I already had actual white chalk in my son’s play area).
Turns out my crazy thinking actually worked and I was able to achieve the look I was hoping for! Since this was Carter’s poster, I let him help with the whole project (deep breath Jennifer, this is your son’s project, it doesn’t have to be perfect!). He actually did an amazing job helping!
I first had Carter use the side of a piece of white chalk and color the entire piece of black poster board. (Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of us doing this on the original black poster board…but you get the idea!)
How To Make A Photo Display Board
With a crayon we had fun doodling around each image in the collage. Like I said, it’s just a faux chalkboard poster board, so whatever you write won’t be able to be erased.
We used double sided tape to attach his pictures. I also printed out a large letter C for the center of his poster. Cut out, draw around and color in…easy enough!
Needless to say I am very excited about how this poster turned out about my sweet boy!

This all came about because I was invited by Scrapbook.com (based in Mesa, AZ) to be a guest on their Facebook Live to celebrate the upcoming National Scrapbook Day, which is May 6th. They asked me to share a project that I can demonstrate in ten minutes.
I prepared and then I was so excited, I arrived at their offices THREE hours early. So embarrassed. The team didn’t care at all, they laughed and welcomed me! We worked it out for me to use their studio to do a Facebook Live on my page to promote their event. But first they gave me a tour of their enormous warehouse and headquarters. I am really proud to have such a big craft business here in my town.
